Kinesiology, or human kinetics, is the science of human movement. Kinesiology is most often applied in rehabilitation professions, such as physical and occupational therapy. Kinesiology is also applied in sports medicine and in the exercise industry. The sciences of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, psychology, and neuroscience all play a role in kinesiology. It should be noted that although the term kinesiologist is not a professional designation or license to practice, the study of kinesiology is often a basis for obtaining degrees in the fields of physiology or neuroscience.
Orthopedics is a field of medicine that addresses disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic doctors treat conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis, as well as trauma to the bones, including injury, degenerative diseases, infections, or tumors. Treatment can involve both surgical and non-surgical means.
