Default Cycling and marathon training - 12-16-2006, 02:51 PM

My question is about training. I do quite a bit of cycling and do races in the spring and summer. How should I factor this into my marathon training?

Cycling takes the place of cross-training and if you do it on some very steep hills it can give you some of the hill-training conditioning. It will help with aerobic base but you can't really replace much of the core training with it. First and foremost, you need to get in all of your long runs because they are not replaceable.

Thank you for your reply, Thats basically what I was thinking. Like I said before my hardcore cycling shouldn't conflict much with the later marathon training.
