Default Old shoes - 12-24-2006, 06:54 AM

During 5k run I decided to use my 2 years old Nike Air Jordan 20. My firiend has given it to me to as a christmas present. I don't know it's appropriate to use old shoes or not.

Any Advice?

You can run in whatever you want, but I'm not sure why you would want to run in basketball sneakers whether they were old or new.

Personally, I tend to shy away from shoes that are 2 years old. I generally have at least 500 miles on them by that time, so they have likely been tossed already, but most of the training shoes that I race in are in the 50-150 mile range.

I rarely use trainers when I race, though. My racing shoes might be a year or two old, but they'll only have up to a few hundred miles on them.

When you are done with old shoes, be sure to recycle them. Find a local running store that will accept them or donate them to charity (if htey are still usable). If they aren't usable they can be turned into running tracks or playground mulch.
