Default Gear for Wet Weather - 12-09-2006, 02:12 PM

Hello All

I have a simple question for all the runners. If the weather is rainy for the marathon, what is recommended in the way of clothing, especially in the way of pants?

Last year it the weather varied from heavy clouds, to sprinkles to a downpour by the end of the race for me. I tried various things to keep the wet off ,a garbage bag with arm holes...it just made it very humid underneath the plastic, raincoats, etc. I figured out pretty quickly that I was fighting a losing battle to stay dry, and just went with my long sleeve cool-max shirt and some long running pants.

Anything that wont cause chaffing! I was glad I had long Under Armour running pants and a long sleeve Under Armour shirt. I started out with gloves but abandoned them ,later, after it started to rain I really wished I'd kept my gloves! I also wore the double layer Wright socks and even with wet soggy shoes I believe these socks are what kept my feet free of any blisters. You've made it to this point so you're probably pretty good at 'coping' with discomforts. Best of Luck!
